Living in a reality that holds both positive and negative space, means that having a life of complete equilibrium is likely impossible at the default state. That there will always be something that is needed or be lacking in a sense. In our personal lives these needs may be physical resources or subjective experiences. To lack the adequate amount of capital, assets and opportunities in order to grow in the external world. Or to lack attention, support, and a reciprocation of understanding in order to maintain a balance in the internal world.
What do you have to offer to others? What are you in need of that is essential to your thriving? These are two very important questions that we should ask ourselves. In essence we are asking the economic question of supply and demand.
So how do we offer value? By providing a resource or service that is in demand. Helping others by providing them with something they are in need of. In moments where the human condition becomes overwhelming, we may feel under appreciated, unrecognized, alienated and apathetic. In these moments, what we need most of all is for someone else to be at our side. To be loved and acknowledged. Simply asking “how are you?” can be a powerful gesture.
How does one create a mutually beneficial relationship? When attempting to exchange goods, it is important to understand that you create the ethical and personal boundaries you want. The boundaries and rules of engagement set create the type of mutual relationships that are wanted. Someone else may have their own boundaries and the terms are agreed upon to create the best cohesion.
It's also important to understand that you decide what kind of service you want to provide. When desperate, we choose to be the lowest common denominator because it guarantees instant validation. But often not, we are left completely bankrupt. You choose what kind of value you want to be to people.
