It’s okay to give.
But for those who give too much, it’s important to understand that there is a point in which you sacrifice everything for nothing in return.
The erosion of our own integrity is one of many ways in which we have the capacity to self harm and bring about suffering.
So how do we know when to withhold and prioritize the self?
First, you must establish a sense of individuality by coming to understand the core values, beliefs and intent in which you would want to live an ideal life.
Conceptualizing and writing down these standards in a detailed and constructive manner will help in the reformation of a unified self.
Then comes upholding these boundaries.
Setting limits to what the internal and the external world have the capacity to interact with and influence one’s own condition.
By saying “no” to what goes against your interests or character is critical to maintaining the purity of our authentic self-expression.
It’ll bring clarity and solidify the boundaries that you have set for yourself and for others.
Remember, boundaries will bring about peace. Boundaries are the greatest form of self-respect.
