Social skills is about learning how to engage any social situation with openness and compassion. But to an extent.

Some interactions are better left avoided, depending on the context and possibly the person. I’ll let you be the one that interprets the type of context.

So how do you get out of a social interaction?

Below are just a few very brief bullet points that are guaranteed to work. Intentionally brief so that you may figure it out on your own.

Use these tips with caution and only if absolutely necessary. Remember, this is for “self-defense.” It is at your own peril and you may end up rubbing someone the wrong way (which is its intended purpose).

Avoid the Situation Before It Happens

  • Avoid Contact

  • Create Boundaries

  • Don’t Give All Your Energy

  • Stay Busy

In the Case of a Situation, How to Shut it Down
